Brushtail.

Brushtail is a project by Ryan Borrett created in 2018. Often grounded by guitar, Brushtail’s sound is also hard to pin down, dipping into nu jazz, lo-fi electronica, and alt folk. More recently, he has grown his sound from its beatmaking roots to more expanded songwriting, bringing in other musicians and instruments, and pushing his voice forward.

At times rough around the edges, Brushtail holds onto honesty and learning along the way. Ryan also plays with No Nomad, Tom Brown, Buckland, and Toyotomi, and founded Rockton Records.

His first full release, Sketches of Stars and Sea, appeared in 2021 (RR009), followed by Flowstone (RR020) in 2022, and the Mulch EP (RR027), Pomegranate (RR030), and Happening EP with Tom Brown (RR034) in 2024. In 2025 he released Golden State / Gardens and Stars (RR039), and 2026 the Decoy! EP (RR042) and Circles Circles Circles (RR044).
